Treatment
Eat soft foods. Cut food into small pieces. Steer clear of sticky or chewy food. Avoid chewing gum.
Your doctor or physical therapist may show you how to do exercises that stretch and strengthen your jaw muscles and how to massage the muscles yourself.
If your pain is severe, your physical therapist may provide treatments, such as electrical stimulation or ultrasound to reduce it.
Physical therapists use skilled hands-on techniques (manual therapy) to gently increase movement and relieve pain in tissues and joints.
